 Allow emerging writers to develop their craft in workshops with senior faculty members at Stanford University

Two-year Wallace Stegner Fellowships, five in poetry and five in fiction, are given annually to allow emerging writers to develop their craft in workshops with senior faculty members at Stanford University. Each fellowship includes a $26,000 annual stipend and a tuition waiver. No degrees are required to apply, and no degrees are awarded.

Applicants must submit a poetry or fiction manuscript, following program guidelines for their genre, as well as a $75 entry fee. Fellows are not allowed to hold any full- or part-time job during their tenure at Stanford, nor are they allowed to be a degree candidate in any college or university or graduate school.
