Work beside researchers in biomedical science at the Mayo Clinic

The Mayo Clinic offers a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) program for students from around the U.S. to work beside both young and established scientists on a broad range of biomedical research questions at the clinic’s facilities in Rochester, Minnesota. Under the guidance of a research scientist, fellows work on their own small independent research projects for ten weeks or participate in the research of an ongoing project.

Fellows receive a stipend of $5,000 for the summer. From this stipend, fellows are responsible for their own travel, housing, and meals. Most fellows live together in a convenient summer student housing area that charges about $175 per week.

Candidates must be current sophomores or juniors at a U.S. colllege or university at the time of application, have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a four-point scale, and be seriously considering a biomedical research career as either a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. International students who are attending a U.S. college or university are eligible to apply.
