Rikuzen Takata Project with Rikkyo University (Japan)

In collaboration with Rikkyo University (Japan), VIA Programs invites US university students to join an eight-day online program with students from Rikkyo, Hong Kong University, and the National University of Singapore to virtually explore the city of Rikuzen Takata, Japan, which was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

Through guest speakers, virtual tours, and immersive activities, students will learn about the community’s journey of recovery and vision of creating a sustainable community. Students will also discuss the United Nations’ Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and collaborate cross-culturally to present their reflections on sustainable community development.

The program will run from August 25 through September 1, 2021 with daily online sessions from 4:00-8:00 PM (US Pacific Time). Students interested in participating in this unique experience should apply by August 1, 2021
