Fulbright Week 2022

Welcome to Fulbright week! March 21 - 25, 2022

The workshops this week are meant to build on the previous sessions (they don't repeat!), but you do not need to attend one session in order to attend others. Join URF throughout the week to learn more about the Fulbright US Student Program, the opportunities available, the application process, and hear from alumni/ae who have recently embarked upon or returned from their own Fulbright experience!

Monday, March 21: Introducing the Fulbright US Student Program - Hosted by IIE!
  • An overview of the Fulbright 2023-2024 opportunity and application process hosted by the Institute for International Education! You must RSVP for this session (only) and the link to RSVP can be found on the URF Events webpage.
Tuesday, March 22: Step 1: Exploring a Fulbright Program and Country for 2023-2024
  • The Fulbright US Student Program provides approximately 2000 annual awards to recently graduated students from the United States and, with programs offered across approximately 160 countries, selecting a single program and country to apply to can be both exciting, and overwhelming! Join URF Advisors for a session devoted to taking the first step in your application process: exploring the resources and strategies to consider in reviewing country opportunities and selecting an award type.
Wednesday, March 23: Why _[#country]___? Fulbright's Specific Country Requirement
  • You don't need to know your country going into the application; but you need to find something wonderful that calls you to that country/program. In this session, URF will share advice, tips, strategies for developing a compelling argument for why you want to research, study, or teach in a particular country through the Fulbright!

Thursday, March 24: Making Research Connections - locally and globally!
  • In this session, URF will discuss how to make connections, both locally and globally, in pursuit of research and specifically in applying to the Fulbright! Advisors will present tips in identifying and reaching out to potential research mentors, and the resources available to you in developing a strong research proposal.
Friday, March 25: Fulbright Alumni/ae Panel
  • Join a panel of Fulbright Alumni/ae Ambassadors, who will share their experiences - both with the program and application process with prospective candidates! If interested in the Fulbright, this is a fantastic opportunity to converse with and ask questions of your peers! Learn how they secured an affiliate or selected their program/country of application! Or, how they engaged with their local community! What unexpected challenges occurred as an ETA? Are they still involved in research today?
