Join URF for a week devoted to the Fulbright US Student Program

Fulbright Week will introduce interested students and alums to the Fulbright US Student Program through daily information sessions, held from Monday, March 25 - 29, 2024, providing everything from early introductions to the program, meeting the Institute for International Education staff who administer this program, to addressing how to best tackle the application components and to inviting CU alums to share their Fulbright experiences virtually with prospective candidates. URF welcomes all years and graduates of CC, SEAS, GS, who are keen to learn more about the Fulbright - with an eye on applying this year or in the future! Session I: Fulbright 101
Exploring the Application Process and Strategically Selecting a Country
Monday, March 25, 2024, from 3 - 4pm EST
Welcome to Fulbright week! Today's session will provide an overview of the Fulbright 2025-2026 application process, the countries/programs available to applicants, and strategic considerations in selecting a country/program of application.

Session II: Fulbright U.S. Student Program's Group Presentation Session with the Institute for International Education (IIE)
Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 4PM - 5:15pm
The Fulbright US Student Program provides approximately 2000 annual awards across approximately 140 countries to graduating seniors and recently graduated students from the United States. Join staff from the Institute for International Education, the Fulbright's administrative body of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), for a session devoted to taking the first step in your application process: learning more about this exciting program and the many opportunities available through it, directly from those who facilitate it annually. Session III: Making Fulbright Connections - locally and globally! Networking!
Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 2 - 3pm EST
In this session, URF will discuss ways to identify and reach out to potential research mentors, the resources available to you in developing a strong research proposal, and how to connect with Fulbright alums, resources, support, and information prior to and during the application process.

Session IV: Engaging with your local Fulbright community - Beyond the Classroom
Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 4 - 5pm EST
Within selection, the Fulbright US Student Program equally prioritizes academic AND ambassadorial potential, seeking those who are keen to deepen their understanding for their intellectual and intercultural questions alike. But, how does one demonstrate ambassadorial potential and/or a keen desire to engage beyond the classroom within a community they've never step foot in? In this session, URF will explore strategies, ideas, and resources for developing a strong ambassadorial candidacy, applicable to the Fulbright application and beyond.

Session V: Fulbright Alum Panel
Friday, March 29 2024 from 1-2pm EST
This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Fulbright US Student Program directly from the Program's alums! Hear from your peers as they share their experiences of applying, arriving in country, carrying out research, teaching in a foreign classroom, and more! Bring your questions or join to simply listen to their tales from abroad and how this opportunity has continued to open doors beyond their fellowship year.
