The Anna Sobol Levy Foundation provides fellowships to U.S. citizens who are college graduates to pursue a one year master's degree at the prestigious Reichman University in Israel (formerly IDC Herzliya), located near Tel Aviv. Historically, future U.S. military officers from ROTC programs have been the backbone of the program. the program also accepts civilian students who are committed to careers in the Foreign Service or in the various intelligence agencies.
The Fellowship covers tuition for the one year program, where Levy Fellows must enroll in one of two academic tracks within the MA in Government:
Counter-Terrorism & Homeland Security Studies
The Counter-Terrorism & Homeland Security track looks into the phenomenon of modern terrorism and its characteristics, scope and dissemination throughout the world including its effects on decision-makers, security establishments, the legal system and the business sector. This program is offered in collaboration with the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT), and the Institute for Policy & Strategy. In addition, students have the opportunity to take the Cyber-Terrorism Cluster over the summer semester, which offers cutting-edge strategies to answer the market needs in the field of online threats and fraud. Diplomacy & Conflict Studies
In the growing field of Diplomacy & Conflict Studies, students will gain a deep understanding of how conflicts and wars develop, as well as how they can be resolved strategically, diplomatically or informally. The program involves learning about the psychological, cultural and legal aspects of conflict while providing practical tools of dealing with conflicts including mediation, arbitration, public diplomacy, international intervention, third-party involvement and more. In addition, students have the opportunity to take part in the Global Impact Cluster which prepares students to use Israeli technologies and innovations to address pressing global sustainability challenges in emerging markets and developing countries. There is also the option for the Contemporary Middle East Cluster which will explore the region's turbulent transformation in pursuit of democracy and economic development, while delving into Islamic fundamentalism, global jihad, and extreme modes of nationalism. Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be below the age of 30;
- Candidates should have studied in the fields of military studies, economic geography, international relations, political science, history, or similar fields.
