This November, the Columbia College Rose Research Ambassadors, will host a week of events devoted to sharing their own research experiences, encouraging others to engage in undergraduate research, and demystifying the process of entering into undergraduate research.
Rose Research Week invites students to explore undergraduate research and learn how current Rose fellows began their research journeys, how they are engaging with their research interests today, and how research has shaped their undergraduate experience. Sessions will cover topics such as approaching faculty mentors, pursuing summer research opportunities, conducting senior thesis work, and more. URF welcomes students from all class years across CC, SEAS, GS, and Barnard—whether new to research or having engaged in research prior — to join in discovering the many pathways, experiences, and opportunities into undergraduate research.

Thesis Exchange: An Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research Forum
Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Location: Uris 333
Hosted by the CC Rose Research Ambassadors, Thesis Exchange brings together seniors across disciplines to present their thesis projects-in-progress, exchange feedback with peers, and build a supportive intellectual community around shared research challenges and methods. The event will be open to all interested students and faculty, encouraging dialogue across departments and fostering interdisciplinary connections. Student panelists working on senior theses in disciplines such as Environmental Biology, Urban Studies, Anthropology, and more will share their progress on their capstone projects and insights with attendees about how to approach the process, what support is available, and how to prepare for a research-intensive final year of study. Students from all disciplines and years are welcome, including those not considering a thesis or from disciplines outside the panel's scope.
