Undergraduate Research Week

Undergraduate Research & Fellowships invites students to join us for Undergraduate Research Week, a week of events celebrating undergraduate research and the many pathways into scholarly and creative inquiry. Through panels, workshops, presentations, and conversations, the week is designed to introduce students to the opportunities, resources, and experiences that make undergraduate research an integral part of the Columbia experience.

The week will culminate with the Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, October 23, where student researchers from across Columbia will showcase their summer research, share their research experiences, and discuss their findings with the broader campus community, and celebrate the breadth of undergraduate scholarship.

URF welcomes students from all class years across CC, SEAS, GS —whether just beginning to explore research or are already actively engaged—to connect with the undergraduate research community and discover the many opportunities available to them.

Join Undergraduate Research and Fellowships for the first event of Research Week! URF advisers will facilitate a conversation about research opportunities available to undergraduates both on campus and beyond! In this session, we will discuss ways to identify opportunities of interest, reaching out to potential research mentors/supervisors, and the resources available to you in developing a strong, compelling research proposal. Recommended for students of all years. No RSVP necessary. URF sessions are not recorded.

Interested in or curious about research? Want to engage in topics that are of interest to you, both in the lab, library or archive, and within the community? Join us for an information session about the Laidlaw Scholars program, which provides funding for one summer of research and for one summer of travel and community engagement. This program is only open to CC first years and first-year transfer students. No RSVP necessary. URF sessions are not recorded.
