Provides financial support and housing at Philips Exeter Academy to a person pursuing a career as a writer

The George Bennett Fellowship at Phillips Exeter Academy provides time and freedom from material considerations to a person seriously contemplating or pursuing a career as a writer. It provides a one-year stipend as well as housing and meals for this person and his or her family at Academy expense. Fellows are expected to offer informal and unofficial advice on writing careers to students.

Fellows are not considered faculty members, nor do they have regular or prescribed duties. Duties the fellow might assume will be determined more by the fellow’s good will and interests. Fellows may not hold other full- or part-time positions during their tenure, nor may they be enrolled in any graduate program.
