The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and career opportunities in international affairs, as well as skill development necessary for such careers. The program has two main components: (1) three for-credit courses focusing on U.S. foreign policy, economics, and writing; and (2) site visits to Washington, D.C. area institutions engaged in international affairs and opportunities to learn directly from professionals in the field.
The program selects 15 Rangel Scholars each year from universities throughout the U.S. Students live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs with foreign affairs professionals at Howard and at diverse locations around Washington, D.C. The program covers the costs for tuition, travel, housing, and two meals per day. It also provides a stipend.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, full-time undergraduate students, and interested in international affairs careers. Applicants must also have a GPA of 3.2 or better on a four-point scale at the time of application.
