Year-long fellowship for recent college graduates interested in a career in healthcare

The Hale County Hospital Fellowship in Greensboro, Alabama, offers recent graduates a unique, year-long opportunity to immerse themselves in the intricacies of healthcare while serving a rural community. This hands-on program is designed to deepen Fellows’ understanding of healthcare systems, hospital operations, and community health, all while developing leadership, communication, and patient care skills.

Core Components of the fellowship

  • Supporting patients during hospitalization and after discharge through companionship, activities, home visits, and follow-up care.
  • Leading High School Scholars Program sessions, coordinating job shadowing, and supporting school-based outreach.
  • Assisting with hospital operations, student rotations, communications, fundraising, and community event support.
  • Volunteering with local organizations and participating in community events to build relationships and strengthen partnerships.
  • Daily meetings, mentorship, and weekly healthcare discussions with Project Horseshoe Farm Community Health Fellows.

Life as a fellow

  • Fellowship dates: June 23, 2025-July 17, 2026
  • Shared housing and utilities provided free of charge
  • Educational grant awarded to partially offset expenses related to your service year
