William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowships for Minority Students offer paid internships in the Washington, D.C. office of the Aspen Institute’s Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation during the fall or spring semester or during the summer. Through their work experiences, fellows gain exposure to issues and challenges affecting philanthropy, social enterprise, nonprofit organizations, and other actors in the social sector.

Fellows are expected to work for fifteen to twenty hours per week during the fall or spring semesters and full-time during the summer. Stipends for fall and spring fellows are approximately $2,000; stipends for summer fellows are approximately $4,000. Fellows must provide for their own travel and housing expenses.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of color, currently enrolled in college, and able to demonstrate financial need. Candidates should have excellent research and writing skills, and should be returning for at least one semester of college after the fellowship experience. Candidates should also have demonstrated interest or experience in nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and/or the social sector.
