Institute of Global Politics (IGP) Student Scholars Program

Location:
New York, ,
United States
Term: Academic Year, Spring, Fall

Provides mentorship and professional experiences for students interested in finding solutions to the world's most challenging issues

With a mission to equip Columbia students with the tools necessary to grapple with the world’s pressing issues, the SIPA Institute of Global Politics (IGP) Student Scholars Program will provide the mentorship and professional experiences Columbia students need in order to understand and find solutions to our global challenges.

IGP Student Scholars will be selected to work closely with the IGP Faculty Advisory Board and IGP Distinguished Fellows, who include a Nobel Prize laureate, diplomats, politicians, and advocates.

IGP Student Scholars will have unique opportunities, including:

  • Priority access to public IGP events, including Spotlight Interviews (the first of which was with Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi!) and Across the Aisle events, where policymakers model respective and constructive exchanges of views across partisan and ideological lines.
  • Priority access to closed-door IGP events, which will include small-group workshops and policy labs with Distinguished Fellows, policymakers, and policy experts.
  • Priority access to work with Distinguished Fellows and on IGP policy reports as paid Research Assistants.
  • Advising IGP staff on future IGP programming that would be useful and interesting to Columbia students.

* For its inaugural year (2023), the IGP Student Scholars Program is an unpaid opportunity.
