Support for Columbia undergraduate students to study, serve or intern in Israel

Columbia University’s Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies offers Undergraduate Israel Fellowships that provide support for study, service, or internship work in Israel and invitation-only educational opportunities at Columbia.

Fellows receive funds in support of their project in Israel and also participate in educational and social opportunities arranged for them in Israel. During the following academic year at Columbia, fellows attend discussions and presentations by leading national and international thinkers and writers, many of these arranged for them. Fellows will be expected to give a presentation on their project in Israel and to participate actively in an event related to the subject area of their project.

Fellowships are open to undergraduate students at Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, General Studies and Barnard College who will have completed at least one year of study by the time they would undertake their project in Israel. The project itself must be at least four weeks in duration, and some confirmation of affiliation from a host organization in Israel is a required component of the application.

Prospective fellows should detailed plans for their time in Israel, including housing and travel arrangements. The Institute will give special consideration to applicants who have demonstrated a clear prior commitment to the area they wish to pursue further through their summer project.
