The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (MMMF) awards grants to women from developing countries who are currently studying in the U.S., who have a demonstrated commitment to working for the benefit of women and children in the developing world, and who plan to return to their home countries after graduating for continued service to women and children.
Individual grants are for up to $15,000 and are not renewable. MMMF typically invites recipients to Washington, D.C. to participate in a three-day awards program organized in their honor.
Candidates must be women residing in the U.S. or Canada at the time of application and enrolled in an accredited U.S. or Canadian educational institution; they must have one additional year of study in their programs and must use their grants to complete their degrees. Candidates must also be citizens or nationals of a lower- or middle-income developing country; they may not be citizens or nationals of the U.S. or Canada. They must also be at least 25 years old by December 31 in the year of application and have demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic records.
