Provide two years of support for postgraduate work at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Department of Bioethics

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center Department of Bioethics Predoctoral Fellowships provide two years of support for post-baccalaureate work at the department’s facilities in Bethesda, MD. Under the guidance of senior departmental faculty, fellows participate in departmental research activities and study ethical issues related to the conduct of research, clinical practice, genetics, and health policy.

Fellowship stipends are based on the recipient’s previous experience and the current U.S. government pay schedule. Pre-doctoral fellowship applicants should have an undergraduate degree before beginning the fellowship and should be planning postgraduate work—past fellows have gone on to attend premier graduate programs in many fields, including medicine, law, public health, health policy, and sociology.

Fellows are selected on the basis of their previous academic achievements, commitment to scholarship, and the contribution they are likely to make in the field of bioethics. No bioethics experience is required or expected.
