Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) Fellowships provide seven-week summer experiences with PEC, in the Piedmont region of Virginia. The first four weeks of the program focus on academic activities, including orientation, classroom instruction from PEC staff, guest lectures, field trips, and discussions on assigned readings. In the final three weeks, fellows use their new skills to complete an individual practicum project with a mentor from PEC or a partner organization.
Fellowships provide local housing, activity and special project allowances, and a small living stipend. Candidates should be current college students or recent graduates with an interest in environmental work and careers in environmental stewardship, land conservation, historic preservation, community planning, agriculture, and other related fields.
