Funding for emerging artists whose works seeks to enrich and inform the public on topical issues

The Puffin Foundation Ltd. has sought to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their race, gender, or social philosophy as well as providing grants to emerging artists whose work seeks to enrich and inform the public on subjects such as the environment, social justice, civil rights, and other contemporary issues affecting the country.

For the 2022 competition: Applications for Fine Arts, Music, Photography only will be accepted. Or arts-related projects focusing on Environmental issues and the climate crisis confronting us all from other genres such as Theater.

Grants may be made to individuals or to organizations. Individual grants average approximately $1,250 and never exceed $2,500.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and applications will only be considered for art production that conforms to the foundation’s mission. The foundation uses many criteria to judge proposals, including the amount of funding requested, how well established the applicant is in his or her fields, the audience that will be exposed to the end product, and the overall topic or topics addressed in the proposal.

Note: the Puffin Foundation only accepts requests for applications during a certain time period in the fall. See the program website for details.
