Funding for postgraduate study and professional development for students committed to careers in conflict resolution and international relations

Rotary Peace Fellowships form the premier educational program of the Rotary Foundation and support’s Rotary’s mission to advance world understanding, good will, and peace. It is intended for individuals who have chosen a career related to international relations, peace, and conflict resolution; who have work experience in these areas; and who have a commitment to community or international humanitarian service and working for peace.

Two types of fellowships are offered: a master’s degree program, lasting from 15 to 24 months, and a professional development certificate program, lasting 3 months. Fellows pursue these programs at one of a number of Rotary Peace Centers for International Studies at universities around the world.

For the master’s degree program, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, proficiency in English and recommended second language proficiency, and a minimum of three years of combined paid or unpaid full-time relevant work experience.

For the certificate program, candidates must have a strong academic background, proficiency in English, and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience with full-time employment in a mid- to upper-level position.

Candidates for both programs should have excellent leadership skills and a strong commitment to international understanding and peace, as demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal and community service activities.

Candidates must apply through a local Rotary Club. Application deadlines vary by club—it is important to be in contact with local clubs very early. Fellowship recipients must apply for and gain admission to their assigned university.
