Offers grants to support summer research and unpaid internship projects in East Asia

Columbia University’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute offers undergraduate training grants of up to $2,500 to support summer research or unpaid internship projects in East Asia that develop recipients’ academic and/or professional expertise. Projects involving a single East Asian country are eligible, as are projects that cross traditional disciplinary, geographic, or temporal boundaries.

Grants are open to currently enrolled Columbia undergraduates—students in Columbia College, Barnard College, Columbia Engineering and the School of General Studies are eligible, provided they will be completing their studies following the grant period. Candidates should have taken at least two courses in East Asian studies before applying and must be maintaining a GPA of at least 3.5.

Selection criteria include academic excellence, demonstrated interest in East Asia, and demonstrated commitment to incorporating East Asia into long-term academic or professional career goals.
