Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships, offered by the Worldstudio Foundation and the American Institute of Graphic Arts, provide financial support to minority and economically disadvantaged students who are majoring in design and arts disciplines in U.S. colleges and universities.
Scholarships usually range from $2,000 to $3,000, although one or two top awards of $5,000 may be granted. Each award is paid directly to the recipient’s school and applied toward tuition.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are enrolled (or planning to enroll) in an accredited college or university in the U.S. in the upcoming year and who are majoring (or planning to major) in advertising, fine arts, graphic design, illustration, interactive design/motion graphics, or photography. Candidates may be enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate level and should be planning to pursue careers in their major disciplines. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate financial need.
Because the program’s aims include increasing diversity in the creative professions and fostering social and environmental responsibility in future generations of artists and designers, scholarship recipients are selected not only for their ability and need, but also for their demonstrated commitment to positive change in the larger community through their work.
