Ama Munkhbayar GS'24

Ama Munkhbayar GS'24 hails from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She holds a bachelor's degree in Urban Studies from Columbia, where she explored the complexities of urban inequality and educational policy. As a UN Millennium Fellow in 2022, she advocated for the "Keeping the Girls in School Act," a crucial piece of legislation aimed at addressing barriers to girls’ education and promoting equal access for all.

As a Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholar, Ama will pursue an MSc in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Oxford, focusing on the intersection of gender, education, and social mobility. Her area of focus is bolstering economic and social advancement, emphasizing the pivotal role of girls' education in achieving socioeconomic equality.

The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Program cultivates the leaders of tomorrow by providing an opportunity for outstanding university graduates and professionals mainly from developing and emerging economies, but also those who would not otherwise be able to support themselves, to pursue fully-funded graduate studies at the University of Oxford alongside a comprehensive program of leadership development, long-term mentoring and networking.

The Leadership Program is a unique part of these scholarships, and over the course of a year scholars take part in philosophical discussions, learn business skills and receive communication training within a supportive community.
