Contribute to Columbia Journal of Asia and The Student Journal for the Study of Human Rights

The Columbia Journal of Asia (CJA) is an open-access platform for a broad range of creative and academic pieces on Asia, the Asian diaspora, and comparative studies broadly related to Asia, written by undergraduates in the U.S. and abroad. CJA creates a space for Asian narratives, languages, and societies in dominant intellectual and creative dialogues. The journal is recruiting for the following roles:
  • Academic editors work with the Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editor to select and revise academic notes and articles for publication. In addition to editing for the main publication, article editors will also be expected to contribute to editing short-form pieces for the CJA website on a semi-regular basis throughout the semester.
  • Creative editors work with the Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editor to select and revise creative pieces for publication.
  • Website designers and production editors are integral to the maintenance and publication of the journal. Website designers will be responsible for regular maintenance of the CJA website through Columbia Libraries, primarily involving publication logistics for short-form pieces and yearly issues. Production editors will be responsible for copyediting and typesetting all CJA pieces for final publication.
  • Outreach team members work with the Director of Peer Review to contact/solicit peer reviewers, organize speaker and panel events, and facilitating the promotion of journal activities and presence to the Columbia community and beyond.
