Colby King CC'22 named David Prize Winner

Congratulations to Colby King CC'22 for being named a David Prize winner!

The David Prize funds individuals with ideas, projects, products, and passions that are making (or will make) New York City a better place for more of us. Each year, five New Yorkers are selected, and provided with $200,000 towards their chosen project for improving New York City. The David Prize is all about funding extraordinary New Yorkers with ideas that will make a better, brighter New York City. The process to submit for the Prize is open to any individual in the five boroughs and opens each year in the fall and ends with a winner announcement the following summer. Each step of the process aims to get to know individuals - from online submission forms to in person meetings - because that's what this Prize is all about: the power of people with conviction to change the future of our city.

He also mentored youth through programs like Peer Health Exchange and conducted research exploring the intersections of race, religion, and sexuality.

In 2025, King was awarded The David Prize in recognition of his work building pathways for queer and trans artists of color and preserving the cultural legacy of the Kiki ballroom community. He is a co-founder and Executive Director of the Kiki Arts Collaborative, a multidisciplinary platform that combines professional development, archival research, and public programming to support emerging artists and expand access to the creative economy.

King currently works as a Marketing Operations Analyst at Justworks and remains deeply committed to creating spaces where art, scholarship, and social change converge.
