NEW PROGRAM: Barry Goldwater Summer Research Internship Program (Deadline: 11/2)

The Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation is pleased to announce the Barry Goldwater Summer Research Internship Program, a new initiative that will expand opportunities for college first - years and sophomores to participate in cutting-edge research in their fields of interest.

Authorized by Congress, the program marks the Foundation’s 40th anniversary and builds on its longstanding commitment to identifying, encouraging, and financially supporting undergraduates who aspire to become the nation’s next generation of research scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. In its inaugural summer of 2027, the program will support 20 research positions in Chemistry; Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering; Engineering; Life Sciences; and Physics and Astronomy. Throughout the Foundation’s 40-year history, undergraduate research has remained one of the most important factors in guiding students toward research careers in these fields.

Goldwater Interns will join collaborative research teams at laboratories across the nation, working alongside senior researchers, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and other undergraduates. Each intern will receive $10,500 in financial support for the 10-week research experience.

Applications are due November 2, 2026, and selected applicants will be notified by January 15, 2027.
