The key to working consistently on a big task is to be clear about your motivation for undertaking it. Ideally, then, you should know what your thesis project means to you in terms of your personal and intellectual development. Having that kind of clarity will allow you to stay focused on the goal of finishing the thesis in the face of inevitable obstacles and it will even allow you to redefine the parameters of your research if and when you must. In this session, therefore, we will try to help each other articulate not just on what we are doing but why we are doing it: the reasons, of course, will differ for each of us.(Thursday, October 24 at 4:00 PM; 202 Hamilton Hall)
