Deresiewicz Summer Research Fellowship

Location:
New York,
United States
Term: Summer

Provides support for full-time laboratory research on the Morningside Heights campus over the summer in the biological sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry or chemical engineering

The Herbert Deresiewicz Summer Research Fellowship was established in 2011 in memory of Herbert Deresiewicz, a long time SEAS faculty member and department chairman who held a deep and abiding love for undergraduate teaching.

This opportunity provides support for a Columbia College or Columbia Engineering student who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to engage in full-time laboratory research on the Morningside Heights campus over the summer (for a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks) in the biological sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry, or chemical engineering. Students are expected to carry out this research under the supervision of a faculty member from Columbia who will be required to provide advice before, during, and after the period of research. First, Second and Third year students (CC and SEAS) may apply.

The recipient will receive a stipend. Awards cannot be used for the completion of formal coursework or structured internships.

If you are awarded a Deresiewicz Fellowship, you may be asked to speak at information sessions for interested prospective applicants and will be required to present a poster on research experience and learning outcomes in October as part of an undergraduate research symposium.
